This year, we bring you UbuCon Asia 2022 as hybrid event. It will be physically held at Nuritkum Square, Seoul, South Korea and remotely from via Youtube (talks) and jitsi(BoF). Our target audience is obviously for people around Asia, but it is open for anyone around the globe to come and join us. Let’s have a quick look at our first UbuCon2021 event final report as it shows that 25% of participants were students and 60% were professionals who work in the field.

Our call for talks and workshops for this year’s UbuCon Asia is now closed! Thank you every applicants for making your time on choosing topics and writing proposal for our event. Our content team will start reviewing submitted proposal from today to Oct 12. Once we complete reviewing, We’ll notify every applicants wheather proposal is accepted, pending or rejected by the email applicants entered when submitting proposal. Then you will receive an email from content@ubucon.

Today, We have some updates on travel sponsorship program details and its application forms. There are also some changes on sponsorship program. I would like to provide some details through this post. Travel sponsorship If you have already submitted our travel sponsorship application, You should have entered expected amount in USD. As USD rates quickly hikes these days, We decided to accept amount in your local currency on the application form.

We’re announcing that, Call for talk and workshop proposals has been extended until 2022-09-28T23:59:59+09:00). If you already submitted any proposals, You may update and improve your proposal. If you haven’t submitted one yet, you now have 2 more weeks to prepare and submit your proposal. Why extend? So far, We received 42 proposals. But since we don’t have enough proposal on Workshops, Korean sessions and sessions with Intermediate/Advanced level difficulty. We decided to extend our Call for proposals to gather more proposals on these categories.

The UbuCon Asia team is excited to announce that we are now accepting proposals for contributions to this year’s Ubuntu Asia conference! We are open and invite you to submit proposals for how you would contribute until the deadline: September 14th, 2022, 23:59 UTC +9 (KST). You can currently contribute on Talks and Workshop. Call for Lightning talks and BoFs will be opened later.
